What does Candidacy Status Mean?

Candidacy status means a program is new, but fully approved to accept interns.  These interns are able to sit for the RD exam just like any other intern.  All programs go through a rigorous approval process before being given Candidacy Status, so they are well prepared for students.  After 4 years, once several batches of interns have graduated and entered the job market, the new programs apply for full accreditation.

Do I need to find my own preceptors?

Yes.  It is both a challenge and a privilege to be able to chart your own destiny, and find people and places you want to learn from.  The most challenging rotation to find is Clinical, which is why applicants need to find a clinical preceptor before being accepted into this program.  If you do not have an clinical preceptor when you submit your application, keep looking. You will likely be contacted by Garden To Table Nutrition during the application review process, and can update us at that time with information about your plans for clinical rotation.

Do I need to stay in WA?

No.  You need to be in WA for the On-Site, which is 7 - 10 days long, the rest of your time can be spent doing rotations anywhere in the USA.

Should I sign up for part-time or full-time?

If you know you might want a shorter work week, or breaks between rotations, sign up for part-time.  It is easier to change to full-time from part time, and if you finish your part-time w/in 10 months any extra monies paid will be refunded.
