Program Overview
Garden to Table Nutrition offers a distance dietetic internship with 1,000 hours of supervised practice. Interns are responsible for finding their own preceptors, who will be screened by Garden to Table Nutrition. Applicants with a strong background in nutrition can apply for credit for prior learning, which, if granted would decrease the number of supervised practice hours needed. Note: COVID vaccination is a requirement for our program.

Local Food Production Concentration
Dietetic Interns will spend 80 hours getting hands-on farm/garden experience: growing, harvesting, dehydrating, or canning food during their internship, either at our Washington community garden, or in a location they choose themselves. This prepares students to make a positive impact on their communities through the promotion of healthful nutrition and they will guide others in growing, harvesting, and preparing food.

Computer Matching
Potential interns should apply via DICAS, and finalists can expect a follow-up interview, if chosen (and if application fee is paid). During this interview, we will discuss your plan for rotations. You are not expected to submit your rotation plans prior to that. (See to right to pay required application fee.)

We will have a required in-person meeting
We have tentatively scheduled an in-person gathering in Washington, as long as it's safe to do so. Please see the Spring Match 2022 tab for more details. We will meet online from 12 -3 PM PST on Thursdays June 9, 19. 23, 30, and July 7th. We are also offering alternative learning activities in case your rotations are impacted by COVID-19.

Tuition  $9,000
(NOTE: There will be a monthly fee of $100 per month if your program length is extended beyond nine months.) Note: COVID vaccination is a requirement for our program.

NOTE: While Garden to Table Nutrition is not eligible for Federal Financial Aid, you can apply for a concurrent Master's program and receive funding via that avenue, often the Finical Aid award is enough to cover tuition for both GTTN and University of Alabama and some living expenses.

Sign up for an optional Master of Science program in Human Nutrition - if doing a MS w/ UA, you would start your coursework in May 2021.
